☑ basic info.

name: jion haru (pronounced "jee-ohn")
canon: original

age: 16 (physically about 28)
height: 183cm (6'0")
weight: ~ 95 - 113kg (~210 - 250 lb) (weekly cycle)
blood type: O-

☑ appearance.

Jion is a pretty big guy! Though not exactly hulking, he's pretty solidly built, standing at 6'0" when he isn't slouching. He has fairly stout limbs and a bit of a barrel chest; though he's got decent muscle mass, he falls more on the side of being 'chunky,' rather than chiseled or buff. His weight tends fluctuate on a weekly basis, and he tends to have a bit of a pauch by the last two days or so of the week, after which point it 'mysteriously' vanishes and the cycle restarts.

His hair's naturally somewhere between strawberry-blonde and ginger, and he has vibrant green eyes (which would be more obvious if he wasn't always squinting). There's a very obvious scar that traces across his face through his right ear, over his right cheek, across the bridge of his nose and around to his left jawline; a small portion of it continues across the back of his neck, cutting through the short hairs there. It's a very old scar, and Jion habitually rubs at it when he's thinking or nervous.

His default outfit is army slacks, a gray turtleneck and an army-style jacket. He never wears anything with a low neckline; his body has a semi-permanent Y-shaped autopsy scar that etches from just below the collarbone down to his navel, and he tries to hide it as much as he can (because c'mon it's kinda gross).

☑ history.

» The setting: a damaged alternate-Earth, where World War III has already come and gone. Most of the world is still picking itself up after the damage wrought by WWIII, with the US still caught up in some skirmishes in Eastern Europe.

» Sixteen years ago, Jion is made. The product of a military-funded experiment that started before WWIII and picked up its pace near the end of the war. Several hundred genetically-engineered humans are created as part of the ambitious Project Planaria -- an attempt to push regenerative medicine to its limits. The human embryos are modified to share key genetic sequences with planaria to facilitate super-rapid cell regeneration in case of injury.

» Unfortunately, only a few dozen embryos survive, and don't even show signs of rapid regeneration. Further work on the project is immediately put on hold, with the surviving specimens to be monitored until the age of 18, then enlisted as regular soldiers. For a good decade or so, they seem to be regular kids.

» Then, a twist. Turns out the planaria children do have regenerative abilities -- but they activate upon puberty, and permanently. Their bodies produce far too many stem cells that uncontrollably differentiate into other types of cells, causing their bodies to wildly produce extra organs, muscle tissue and teratomas. In fact, their bodies produce extra components rapidly enough that, without regular surgery, the resulting pressure in their bodies can cause tremendous damage. Not to mention, the constant regeneration also causes the children to age quickly, roughly four times that of a normal person.

» There's a mad scramble as the scientists leading the project try to decide what to do. Now that it's been revealed these kids are special, it would be a huge financial waste to send them out as regular soldiers. But their constant regeneration and need for regular surgery would make them poor 'supersoldiers.' So, after much debate, it's decided these specimens will serve as specialized medics, instead.

» So Jion, twelve years old and rapidly coming to realize that he's not a normal human, is placed in a crash course in military medicine. After eighteen months of intense training, he's shipped out to Eastern Europe as a medic. He's technically thirteen-and-a-half, with the body of an eighteen-year-old.

» Products of Project Planaria are often given unconventional tasks due to their capabilities: providing emergency care under fire; helping evacuate individuals from hazardous locations; serving as blood donors on the spot; and -- in the most drastic cases -- serving as emergency organ farms. It's a tough job.

» Jion spends two and a half years being shuttled from battlefield to battlefield, platoon to platoon. His lifestyle isn't particularly cruel or demeaning. He gets a healthy paycheck to his name that he can spend however he likes. He's treated nicely between skirmishes, and a lot of people appreciate what he does. He's saved lots of lives. But it's still a somewhat lonely way of living.

☑ abilities.

Jion is a (not entirely successful) engineered human with planarian genes incoporated into his DNA. As a result, he recovers from injuries at an incredible pace; stab wounds heal up entirely within an hour, and ruined internal organs can be regrown overnight. As a result of having suffered through a large number of injuries and surgical procedures, he's trained to be immune to lower levels of pain, and can continue operating on a few stab wounds or a broken bone or two. Though he's not immortal (a clean shot through the skull or a wide-bore blast through his chest would kill him before he could recover), he's very hard to kill.

He also functions as a one-man blood-and-organ farm, and produces a tremendous amount of blood and extra internal organs that he usually surgically removes from his own body once a week to store for transplantation (or disposes of, in the case there's no storage method and/or recipient). Failing to remove these extra organs and blood from his body on a regular basis is actually detrimental to his health and causes a significant amount of pain.

Other than "extra" organs, his body has adapted to living with three hearts and four lungs; as a result, he's quite fit and can keep up with strenuous physical activity for long amounts of time despite his not-so-svelte build.

On a more mundane level, he's trained as a combat medic, focused heavily on Tactical Combat Casualty Care. He's can also competently handle firearms and has some basic knowledge of hand-to-hand combat, though he's notably unenthusiastic about both.

☑ ooc permissions.

cross-canon / cross-medium: definitely okay!
backtagging: definitely okay! i try my best to get to everything, but i tend to be quite forgetful. please let me know if there's something i dropped that you'd like to continue, and i'll get back to it asap!
threadhopping: probably okay, as long as the other party is also fine with it!
fourthwalling: very doubtful that this would ever come up since he's an OC, but sure?

☑ ic permissions.

hugging / kissing / flirting: a-okay. he'll be very easily flustered and embarrassed about such things, but he won't react badly in most cases.
telepathy / memory abilities / prediction: a-okay, he has no defenses against anything of that sort. please let me know if this is ever relevant and i can write up something appropriate!
fighting: yes! jion isn't much of a combatant himself, but he isn't a stranger to it! he'll generally focus on trying to tackle his opponent to the ground, casually absorbing most of the damage aimed his way; if circumstances look dire, he'll make a run for it.
injuries: definitely okay. very few injuries will be permanent for him, so go wild! the only exception is dismemberment, as he can't magically regrow limbs, and reattaching a severed limb would be trickier business.
death: maybe! i'm always willing to talk things out.
